Brief Description | A national water sources survey carried out in Somaliland and Puntland in 2008, and South/Central regions of Somalia in 2009. Five regions namely Hiraan, Middle Shabelle, Lower Shabelle, Lower Juba and Banadir not covered due to lack of access. The purpose of the survey was to establish and document the status of strategic water sources across Somalia, with respect to location, function and use, physical parameters, water quality, demand and supply. Standard SWIMS data forms were used for data collection. A total of 2,254 water sources were surveyed, and two reports:- Water Sources Inventory for Northern Somalia (Report No. W-12) and Water Sources Inventory for Central – South Somalia (Report No. W-17) published. |
SWALIM is a multi-donor project managed by FAO and currently funded by The European Union, AICS, USAID, SDC, FCDO and Government of France
